The March issue of shoujo manga magazine Margaret features the debut of a new artist named Hoshiki Nana. She created a 16-page manga called Inshin no Yuki (音信の雪) or Tidings of Snow in English. Hoshiki is only thirteen, what makes her one of the youngest manga creators!
伝統と格式の別マまんがスクールから驚異の新人現る。年齢が強調されててそこも確かにスゴいんですが、年齢を抜きにしても上手だと思うので、今後の活躍が楽しみです。

Translated from Twitter user Tidae Hidaka: “A marvelous newcomer from a different manga school of tradition and formality. The age is emphasized and it is certainly great, but I think it is good even without [her] age. I am looking forward to more in the future. Nana Hoshi “Inshin no Yuki…“.
People are so dazzled that they are running out and buying the magazine just to read her debut. The verdict seems to be that not only is she a good artist, but a good storyteller. Inshin no Yuki, which is a great title, is getting high marks for being interesting, too.
There is a precedent for teenage manga artist debuts. Satonaka Machiko, for example, debuted when she was 16 and went on to have a successful career. But 13?
Anime / manga fans have been expressing a mix of emotions, with some saying things like “13 years old! ! What?”, while others are naturally taking a more snarky approach (“How long have you been 13 years old?”). Manga being as fickle as they typically are, some are not at all impressed by Hoshiki’s work (“This one? It is terrible something terrible”). Still, both the art and writing of Inshin no Yuki are getting praise, proving that Hoshiki is likely to be a fast-rising talent in the industry.
