Shinobu Ohtaka, author for Magi, has just announced that the long-running manga will be coming to a close in just a few more chapters.
Magi has been running ins 2009, being released soon after Ohtaka finished her Sumomomo Momomo manga, and if there are no breaks inbetween the chapters, the manga is predicted to end on 18 October.
Here’s the story’s synopsis, according to Viz:
Deep within the desert lie the mysterious Dungeons, vast stores of riches there for the taking by anyone lucky enough to find them and brave enough to venture into the depths from which few have ever returned. Plucky young adventurer Aladdin means to find the Dungeons and their riches, but Aladdin may be just as mysterious as the treasures he seeks.
The manga also inspired two 25-episode anime adaptations, titled Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic (2012) and Magi: The Kingdom of Magic (2013), as well as an ongoing spinoff manga called Magi: Sinbad no Bouken (Magi: Adventure of Sinbad), by Yoshifumi Otera. Said spinoff, in turn, inspired an original video game series and television anime.
It’s a shame that the story is concluding, but even good things come to an end. If you’re interested in catching one of the animes, you can check it out on Crunchyroll.
